Construction projects are in full swing again after a record-breaking winter on the East End of Long Island!!
According to the Weather Service, Islip in Suffolk County on Long Island nearly doubled its annual seasonal average of roughly 32 inches of snow. And the snow stayed on the ground significantly longer than usual. The winter season began early with a prolonged cold wave that lasted into mid-February. (National Weather Service)
DLM Construction worked through the entire winter season with the exception of a few days when road conditions made driving too hazardous. Still, frigid weather makes outdoor work more difficult; creating inevitable delays.
Donald Moore, CEO of DLM Construction recently stated, “We’re back in full swing now; we’ll be focusing on several projects that need to be completed in the next few months before owners, most who live in NYC, will be arriving for holiday and summer visits.”
In the Hamptons and surrounding area, a large percentage of residences are second homes; as an example, 77% of properties in East Hampton are second homes, 65% of properties in Southhampton are non-primary residences. (Approximately 31% of residences in the Hamptons are “primary homes.” ) This translates into focusing on major additions and renovations being done in the “off season”.
DLM Construction currently has projects in locations on Eastern Long Island including an addition on a house in Southhampton (pictured above.)
“Despite a brutal winter and the pressure to complete work in the next few months, we’re in good shape< noted Moore, “We expect that we’ll finish our projects as promised!”
